The Benefits of Collagen Induction Therapy - Microneedling

Collagen Induction Therapy is a minimally-invasive, non-surgical and non-ablative procedure for facial rejuvenation. A non-ablative procedure means that your epidermis (first layer of skin) remains preserved and intact. When you are comparing the effects and outcomes of both microneedling and laser therapy, the  benefits of microneedling include no risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (pigmentation of the skin due to skin trauma), Laser, deep chemical peels and dermabrasion run the risk of ablating the skin and making it thinner. Microneedling  thickens the epidermis by creating micro channels, these channels stimulate the healing response in your skin creating new fresh collagen as well as help to absorb cosmecutical serums and creams making them 80% more effective.

  • All areas of the body can be treated

  • Creates less epidermal damage than laser resurfacing, aggressive chemical peels or plastic surgery.

  • More effective treatment with less pain than laser treatments

  • Can treat ALL skin types and colour

  • More cost effective than fraxel skin rejuvenation laser treatments

  • Very Minimal recovery times compared to other advanced treatments

  • Can be combined with our other skin rejuvenation therapies for enhanced results.

FAQ

Do I need a consultation?

Yes. I always perform a consultation prior to every single treatment. Most of the time we can proceed with the treatment as planned, however in some cases, if your skin is not in the right condition to recieve the booked service, you will be recommended appropriate home-care products to use as well as one to two alternative treatments to get your skin in good enough condition that you will achieve maximum results from the desired peel. This is not the case for everyone, however if you are a skincare novice with a very basic routine, it is unrealistic to expect that you can go straight into a highly advanced skin treatment without prepping your skin first. Skin Needling is not like having a facial and should not be taken lightly.

What are the aftercare requirements?

When you book your treatment, I will reach out to you with any specific information you need to be aware of and on the day of your treatment you will be provided with a copy of the post treatment advice.

Does the treatment hurt?

Pain is very subjective due to everyone having a different tolerance level, so I will never say outright that any treatment isn't painful, however overall our clients tell us the treatment is not that painful and can get through without any numbing. Usually the eye & forehead areas are the 'spiciest' and if you are nervous, you are welcome to come armed with some topical numbing that I can apply. *I do not supply numbing due to legal restraints and to meet my insurance obligations. I am aware that many salons ignore this restriction, however I choose to do the right thing for your safety and mine. It is my experience that you are more likely to experience a negative reaction if numbing is used, and so I do encourage you to proceed without, if possible.

What is the downtime?

You will likely be quite pink/red immediately after the treatment, and your skin will feel warm - just like a sunburn. The redness is usually gone within 24-48 hours.

How many treatments will I need?

How long is a piece of string..? It is impossible to say how many treatments you will need, as everyone's goals are different and so is their skin. Generally speaking, 6 treatments are required at 4 week intervals.

How long do results last?

Results greatly depend on your skins condition, your homecare and how you maintain your skin with ongoing treatments afterwards. Results can never be guaranteed.

Are there any side effects?

We always check all contraindications to see if there is any reason you would have an undesired result. Immediately after the procedure, the treated area will be quite red and occasionally swollen. This can last from 1-2 days.

Is there anything that can make me not suitable for treatment?

– Pregnant/Possibility of being pregnant

– Herpes – do not treat if active in the area of intended treatment

– Diabetes insulin dependent – doctors consent (slower healing)

– Eczema or psoriasis – do not treat if active in the area of intended treatment

– Active Vitiligo
