Up Close: Physiolab MTS Whitening Serum

Updated: Feb 12, 2021

In our last post we looked at the Physiolab REVIVE Elixir - a gentle and soothing serum, packed with powerfully hydrating ingredients that also have antioxidant properties. This serum is best suited to dry, damaged and dehydrated skin types, or anyone that is not yet showing the more advanced signs of ageing.

In today's post, we're looking at the Physiolab MTS Whitening Serum. As you might guess from the name, this serum targets pigmentation and uneven skin tone. Researching the ingredients used in this serum got me REALLY excited! Just like the last post, at the end I'll list the main, active ingredients and their benefits. I highly encourage anyone who likes to nerd out on skincare ingredients to have fun on google & google.scholar, researching the two unique complexes listed: Melazero (personal favourite) and GigaWhite. Honestly, I had a little "nerdgasm" when I started going deep on Melazero - it's so cool! Such amazing technology, and when I learned that Physiolab is currently the first and ONLY skincare/cosmeceutical brand using this new ingredient complex I was BLOWN AWAY! So, without any further ado, let's nerd out on some ingredients. Please, if you have any questions please email me, leave a comment or send me a message on the socials. I love to hear from you guys!

Ceramide 3: Ceramides help to moisturise and strengthen the protective skin barrier and protect the skin from external aggressors such as weather and pollution. Ceramide plays an essential role in both water-retention function and barrier function in the stratum corneum – the outer layer of skin. Ceramides ensure that trans-epidermal water loss does not occur too quickly by holding onto water in the skin (in other words, it's a killer humectant).

Hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid primarily binds water in the skin - more precisely, in the extracellular matrix. This area has ability to store several litres of fluid per gram. A high concentration of hyaluronic acid therefore means a high content of water, which makes the skin firm, plump and juicy.

Niacinamide: a form of Vitamin B3, this powerhouse ingredient has a multitude of skin benefits, including fading hyperpigmentation and protecting against future sun damage, reducing the appearance of visible scarring and minimising the appearance of pores.

Gigawhite: unique mixture of 7 organic, sustainable and fair-trade certified plant extracts. It is a natural radiant skin bioactive ingredient that keeps the skin at its luminous best. The main active ingredients are flavonoids, phenolic acids, polysaccharides, and iridoid extracts from: Mallow Flower, Peppermint, Primula Veris, Alchemilla Vulgaris, Veronica Officinalis, Melissa Officinalis, Achillea Millefolium.

Melazero: Listed as Arisaema amurense extract, this patented ingredient complex uses nobel prize winning autophagy technology to reduce pigmentation in as little as 2 weeks. How? The autophage is specifically designed to target melanin. The easiest way to visualise is to picture little pac-men, gobbling up the skin cells that are affected by hyperpigmentation... but it get's better! Physiolab’s Meso Whitening Serum is, to our current knowledge, the first BB Glow range to use this new, innovative ingredient and I think this is pretty cool!

In summary, the Physiolab MTS Whitening Serum is best suited to anyone concerned with hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and dark, visible scarring, like acne scars. If this sounds like you, contact us at The Blush Lab and book yourself a series of BB Glow Facials - we can't wait to see you!
