FAQ

Do I need a consultation?

Yes. I always perform a consultation prior to every single treatment. Most of the time we can proceed with the treatment as planned, however in some cases, if your skin is not in the right condition to recieve the booked service, you will be recommended appropriate home-care products to use as well as one to two alternative treatments to get your skin in good enough condition that you will achieve maximum results from the desired peel. This is not the case for everyone, however if you are a skincare novice with a very basic routine, it is unrealistic to expect that you can go straight into a highly advanced skin treatment without prepping your skin first. Skin Needling is not like having a facial and should not be taken lightly.

What are the aftercare requirements?

When you attend your consultation, any specific information you need to be aware of will be outlined for you and and on the day of your treatment you will be provided with a copy of the post treatment advice. For your convenience, aftercare products are included in the cost of your treatment.

Does the treatment hurt?

Pain is very subjective due to everyone having a different tolerance level, so I will never say outright that any treatment isn't painful, however overall the treatment is considered to be very low on the pain scale. At your consultation we can provide you with details for the specific numbing protocol that we can use for you on the day to make the process very comfortable.

What is the downtime?

You will likely be quite pink/red immediately after the treatment, and your skin will feel warm - just like a sunburn. The upper layers of skin will begin to dry and your skin will itch and peel significantly over the next 7 days, but it is important that you do not pick or peel the skin. By day 7 there will be significant peeling, and that's when you return for your followup appointment to remove the shedding skin and reveal your new, glowing fresh skin underneath.

How long do results last?

Results greatly depend on your skins condition, your homecare and how you maintain your skin with ongoing treatments like microneedling and facials afterwards. While the Platinum Perfection Facelift is designed to provide results after one treatment, it is important to remember that skin is a lifelong investment that may require other treatments in the future to maximize results. Results can never be guaranteed.

Are there any side effects?

We always check all contraindications to see if there is any reason you would have an undesired result. Immediately following treatment, swelling, redness, potential bruising, and temperature sensitivity are common. For 7-10 days post-treatment, one can expect darkening of the skin, itching, redness, swelling, and extensive peeling.

Is there anything that can make me not suitable for treatment?

– Pregnant/Possibility of being pregnant

– Herpes – do not treat if active in the area of intended treatment

– Diabetes insulin dependent – doctors consent (slower healing)

– Eczema or psoriasis – do not treat if active in the area of intended treatment
